Bloodborne on PC Just Went Online: bbport 0.6 Delivers Player Notes, Invasions, and 5-Player Seamless Co-Op

The holy grail of PC ports has reached its most defining milestone yet. With release 0.6 of bbport, Bloodborne on PC is now fully online—bringing real community messages, bloodstains, Hunter's Dream servers, and five-player seamless co-op to Yharnam on PC.

Bloodborne on PC Just Went Online: bbport 0.6 Delivers Player Notes, Invasions, and 5-Player Seamless Co-Op

There is a specific, haunting magic to walking the cobblestone streets of Central Yharnam and seeing the ground illuminated by glowing white Messenger scrolls left by other human beings across the globe. You read familiar warnings ("Fear the old blood", "You're in the know, right?"), see crimson bloodstains replay the gruesome final seconds of fallen comrades, and hear the ethereal chimes of the Beckoning Bell echoing through the fog. For a decade, that living, breathing communal nightmare was permanently trapped on the PlayStation 4—shackled to 1080p and a stuttering 30 frames per second.

When community developers achieved the miracle of booting Bloodborne on PC through native wrappers and Vulkan translation layers earlier this year, it felt like the impossible had already happened. But offline single-player is only half of FromSoftware's vision. The true soul of a Souls game lives in its connected world.

With the milestone release of bbport 0.6 by developer deadinside28, the final wall has crumbled: Bloodborne on PC is officially online. Real community messages, bloodstain spectres, summon bells, and full five-player persistent co-op are now fully operational—and it runs shockingly well.

A Living, Breathing Yharnam: Real Notes and Bloodstains on PC

In community testing across multiple hours of gameplay in Central Yharnam and the Cathedral Ward, the transformation is immediate and staggering. The game no longer feels like a sterile, isolated reverse-engineering demo running in a vacuum. It feels like Bloodborne on launch day in 2015—only running at silky, unlocked framerates with pristine mouse-and-keyboard precision.

Every bridge, graveyard, and dark alleyway is populated with real community activity:

  • Messenger Notes: Players can read, write, and rate messages in real time. Tipping a note heals the author mid-battle just like on retail PlayStation Network.
  • Bloodstains & Phantoms: Touching a red puddle summons the spectral ghost of an actual player, replaying their tragic demise at the hands of the Cleric Beast or Father Gascoigne.
  • Summons & Invasions: Ringing the Beckoning Bell or Sinister Resonant Bell links directly into active matchmaking pools without proprietary Sony servers.

Two Public Server Pools & Five-Player Seamless Co-Op

Rather than relying on closed corporate infrastructure, bbport 0.6 integrates a dual-network pool powered by shadPS4 v0.20's overhauled network architecture (libbbnet20.so):

1. Seamless Hunt (seamlesshunt.com) & BBSC

The default network pool is powered by BBSC (Bloodborne Seamless Co-Op). For Souls veterans who suffered through FromSoftware's arcane summoning restrictions, BBSC is a revelation:

  • Persistent Cooperative Sessions: Up to five hunters can explore the nightmare together in a single continuous session.
  • No Fog-Wall Kicks: Defeating a major boss does not banish your phantom partners back to their worlds.
  • Survives Deaths & Warps: Resting at a lamp, dying to a trap, transitioning across zones, or warping to the Hunter's Dream keeps the entire multiplayer party intact.
  • Account Management: Free community accounts can be registered in seconds directly at seamlesshunt.com and entered into the launcher's Online settings tab.

2. The Hunter's Dream (thehuntersdream.com)

For purists seeking classic vanilla matchmaking, the alternate The Hunter's Dream pool allows players to authenticate their session via Discord directly through the launcher, providing traditional summoning and invasion rulesets.

Additionally, bbport includes an automated local server fallback (bbsc_gameserver.py). If public servers experience downtime, the launcher automatically spins up a local instance on 127.0.0.1:20443, allowing private LAN play across local networks.

The 0.6 Engine Overhaul: Unified GPU Memory & Uncapped Frames

While the arrival of online multiplayer steals the headlines, bbport 0.6 is also the most massive architectural and performance update in the project's history.

1. The Universal PC Memory Model (Bye-Bye NVIDIA Freezes)

Previous iterations of the port suffered from severe memory translation bottlenecks. On NVIDIA hardware in particular, sparse memory bindings caused catastrophic multi-second GPU freezes. In 0.6, the new memory model is now the global default across NVIDIA, AMD, and Intel. Game memory lives in system RAM while frequently accessed buffers and textures are dynamically cached into VRAM and intelligently evicted when idle.

On AMD RDNA 3 hardware (like the RX 7800 XT), frame times dropped from 4.60ms to 4.30ms, pushing upwards of 234 FPS in Oedon Chapel.

2. Dynamic Aspect Ratio Hooks (Ultrawide Without Patches)

Rather than relying on brittle hex-edited binary patches that stretch UI elements, 0.6 implements runtime engine hooks. Players can toggle between 4:3, 16:10, 16:9, 21:9 ultrawide, and 32:9 super ultrawide on the fly. The 3D camera dynamically expands peripheral geometry, HUD elements anchor perfectly to display margins, and cutscenes scale without distortion.

3. True Delta-Time Framerate Hooks

Tinkering with Bloodborne's framerate has historically broken FromSoftware's Havok physics engine—at high refresh rates, cloth simulations and hair physics ran up to 7x faster, and characters dropped from sprinting into a sluggish walk above 90 FPS. In 0.6, 48 discrete engine sub-systems have been rewritten with native delta-time hooks. Running at 120Hz, 144Hz, or 200Hz no longer alters game simulation speed or physics behavior.

4. Authentic PC Mouse & Keyboard Controls

No more clumsy analog-stick emulation for mouse users. bbport 0.6 features raw 1:1 mouse look with zero artificial deadzones or acceleration curves. Menus feature an authentic clickable mouse cursor (hover selects, left-click confirms, right-click backs out, wheel scrolls), and movement keys incorporate a 70ms analog ramp-up to ensure precision platforming.

5. Real-Time Graphics Toggles

Players can now toggle Chromatic Aberration, Depth of Field, Motion Blur, SSAO, and Dynamic Shadows in real time from the in-game overlay without needing to restart the game.

The Community Delivers What Sony Refused

The release of bbport 0.6 is more than just a software milestone—it is a stinging indictment of corporate neglect. For a decade, PlayStation executives have sat on one of the greatest masterpieces in gaming history, refusing to release a 60 FPS patch for PS5, refusing to authorize a PC port, and leaving fans begging into the void.

In response, open-source preservationists and community modders didn't just port the game. They rebuilt its memory management from scratch, uncapped its framerate to 200+ FPS, implemented native ultrawide support, added full mouse-and-keyboard integration, and built a persistent, five-player seamless cooperative online infrastructure.

Yharnam is open. The messengers are waiting. Go hunt.
